XYLEM AT CHELSEA FLOWER SHOW

(Abstract Sculpture)

The sculpture was commissioned by the Royal Horticultural Society for their Fresh Garden at the Chelsea Flower Show. The only requirements in the commission brief were the height, it had to fit into a 3m square space and the preferred use of the RHS fresh leaf logo. The sculpture is a 3D diagram of the molecular and bio-molecular process by which plants take in nutrients. Coincidentally the two three-dimensional steel diagrams also resemble my planar wing forms and when placed together also form a Vesica Piscis or Mandorla shape. The sculpture was fabricated by Estuary Engineering and installed on site by Mtec. The planting round the sculpture was designed by the RHS team of on-site gardeners.

Mild Steel.
